Engineering Manager
Join us in building a world-class creative platform used by millions of people.
Our product, SCRL, is a powerful photo and design platform loved by millions of creators worldwide.
We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead one of the teams building core product experiences in SCRL.
About the role
This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll own the delivery and quality of one of our most important engineering teams, setting direction, running planning, removing blockers, and making sure ambitious work ships on time.
But shipping is only half of it. You'll also be responsible for the people on your team: helping engineers grow, giving clear and honest feedback, and building a team culture that reflects the standards we hold across the company. As we grow, you'll play a central role in recruiting, finding and hiring engineers who raise the bar.
This role reports directly to the Head of Engineering and works closely with product, design, and other engineering teams.
What you will do
Execution & Delivery
Lead your team's planning process, breaking down product goals into clear, well-scoped work.
Own the team's execution cadence. Set priorities, track progress, and make sure projects cross the finish line on time and at the quality bar we expect.
Identify risks and blockers early. Step in where needed to keep things moving.
Work closely with product and design to align on scope, timelines, and trade-offs.
Make pragmatic decisions about when to push for polish and when to ship.
People & Growth
Manage and mentor a team of engineers at varying levels of seniority.
Run regular 1:1s focused on growth, feedback, and career development.
Set clear expectations and hold people accountable while creating an environment where they do their best work.
Identify what each engineer needs to reach the next level, and help them get there.
Foster a team culture rooted in collaboration, directness, and high standards.
Recruiting & Team Building
Partner with the Head of Engineering to define hiring needs and team shape.
Take an active role in sourcing, interviewing, and closing candidates.
Help refine and improve our recruiting process as we grow.
You should have
At least 5 years of experience as a software engineer, with a strong technical foundation you can draw on when guiding your team.
At least 2 years of experience managing engineers, including regular 1:1s, performance conversations, and career development.
Experience leading project planning and delivery for a product engineering team.
High standards for quality, and the ability to hold others to those standards without micromanaging.
Strong communication skills. You explain decisions clearly and create alignment without unnecessary process.
Strong signals
Experience sourcing, evaluating, and closing strong engineering talent.
Experience working on consumer apps with large user bases.
Background in mobile engineering or teams building rich, interactive product experiences.
Experience at a startup or small company where you wore multiple hats.
A genuine interest in creative tools, design software, or visual products.
What we offer
A leadership role with real ownership and direct impact on the product and team.
The chance to shape how we build software as the company grows.
Challenging, meaningful work on a product used by millions of people worldwide.
A small, focused team that values quality, clarity, and craft.
Great colleagues and office in central Stockholm.
Competitive compensation and opportunities for professional development.
